A Fall drive through the Tetons.

Grandma and grandpa Johnson came to visit us this weekend.  We had Thursday and Friday off for Fall Break.  We took a drive up to Colter Bay and drove down past Jenny lake.  What a beautiful day it was.  The scenery was breath-taking.  We went back to Jackson Hole for a late lunch and walked around some shops around the square.  The kids loved dads idea to hit Yippy-I-O, the candy store.  Dad told them to fill a bag full of candy.  They were in heaven.  We had a wonderful fall day.

The Cake & Party!

One year old parties are the best!  We have always let our kids eat their own piece of cake by themselves.  Gehrig didn't hesitate he dug right in.  When we finally got him into the tub he was so covered with cake that he left a cake ring in the tub!
I do have to share a story about preparing for the party.  The kids came home from school when I was in the middle of making the cake, etc.  They were sooo excited and hyper for the party.  They kept asking, and asking when the party was going to start?  Finally, dad made it home from work and I was putting the finishing touches on the cake, just about ready to put the cake topper on the cake.
I have got to give you a brief history on the cake topper.  It was my youngest brothers cake topper on his cake when he turned 1.  He is now 21.  My mom gave it to me to use on Gehrig's cake.  It was a ceramic number one that said My First Birthday.  It had a little duck and mouse on it.
Well I was just ready to put it on the cake, when Jake grabbed it in excitement to help and dropped it on the floor.  It broke in several pieces.  I proceeded to tell Jake the history of the cake topper and had him in tears.  Mark went to find him and tell him some story of when he was a little boy and broke something of his mom's by throwing a Twinkie at his brother.  Jake calmed down and came down just as I was trying to salvage the "1" to put on top of the cake so we could sing "Happy Birthday" and get pictures.  He grab a piece to help and dropped it again.  I asked him, probably not too nicely, to get out of the kitchen.  Once again I had him in tears.  Well we did get the one on top of the cake (minus the mouse), but we had to retire it to the garbage after pictures.  Why are birthday parties so stressful and eventful??

My Baby turns one !!!

I can't believe it has been a year already!  Gehrig is so big!  Where does time fly? We love this little boy!  He brings so much joy to our family.  My mom asked me if I had any good memories when he was born?  Truthfully, I would have to say no.  It was so scary and I was feeling so miserable that week, it was stressful on Mark.  But, if that is what we had to go through to have this sweet baby in our family, it was truly worth it.  Everyone is constantly telling us what a good baby we have.  We have lucked out and all are babies have been really good.  But Gehrig is so good to go with the flow, no matter what we are doing or where we are dragging him, whether he has had a nap or not, he never seems to complain.  He loves his dad so much and is more likely to go to men rather then women.  He loves to wave bye-bye and blow kisses, he can say Dash and loves it when Dash comes up to him.  Gehrig loves his brothers so much and wants to be the center of their attention.  He growls when ever Cael comes around and starts to bug him.  He puts up with so much coming from Cael.  He has a great love of FOOD, any kind anyway.  We love you Gehrig and we feel so blessed to have you in our family.  Happy Birthday!

A 27 Year Old Jacobson Tradition

Since I was 7 when my dad started having hospital meetings in Sun Valley, Idaho, every October conference.  There is a Sun Valley Chocolate Foundry in one of the shops at the Sun Valley resort.  As a kid we happened upon these white chocolate treats and we could never go to Sun Valley again without getting some chocolate suns.  Well, it has become a tradition now with my kids.  When they hear grandma and grandpa are going to Sun Valley they say "don't forget to buy some choclolate suns" or "stars" as Cael calls them.  Mmmmmmmmm! They are sooooooo good!

The Duck Hunt

Connor went on his first duck hunt with his dad.  Mark told him all the bad things about duck hunting: waking up at 5am, sitting in the cold, stinky mud, waiting and waiting for the ducks to come in and being freezing cold, etc., etc.  Mark wanted him to be prepared but he almost scared him out of going.  Well, Connor went and he had the time of his life.  He had a knack for spotting the ducks before anyone else.  So when Connor said here they come, everyone would hit the deck.  He had a dead duck almost hit him and Mark and him laughed pretty hard.

Bartlett

One of our favorite fall activities is heading to Bartlett to fish and spend time together as a family.
                                                     Chase teaching Jake to kayack
My mom and aunt Brenda fish slayers.  (Just kidding they let them go and sometimes kiss them?#@!)
                                                                         Tin foil dinners
Jake loved kayacking I thought my grandma was going to have a heart attack because I let him out on the lake by himself.  He did great and I was proud of him.
