First Day in Disneyland!

It is all about the fast pass!!  We made it on most the rides and we never waited for more then 20 minutes on any ride!  13 hours in the park with only an hour and a half break.  We didn't know if Jake was going to make it back to the hotel, but he did.  The next goal is to get them to stay up till 9:30 pm to see the Awesome fireworks display!! Maybe tomorrow night! Connor's favorite ride is Splash Mtn, Jake loved Pirates of the Caribean, and Cael well he loves the food and I think he really liked the Jungle Cruise, Gehrig' favorite was Pirates as well!

Huntington Beach!

Connor said he loves California and wants to live here!  We ate at Ruby's Diner at the end of the pier and watched a surfing competition and Connor tried some body surfing.  Jake was all about looking for and collecting shells.  Cael loved playing in the sand.  Gehrig just rides the waves and goes with the flow!  What a good baby, he couldn't get a good nap in, but he was so good!

Straight to the pool!

We had a great flight! The boys loved it.  The baby was an angel.  We wore him out!  Jake had a bad ear ache on the plane but we made it through.  We did not waste any time getting in the pool.  Jake was dying from the heat 80' F is a bit hot for us cold blooded Star Valley people.  We were all in bed at 7:30 pm!

What boys love: building and destroying!

Mark cut up a bunch of his scrap wood that he had from our bathroom remodel project.  He gave it to the boys and told them to build a house and then he would start it on fire!  The boys spent all morning building this house and a only took a few minutes to burn down.  Connor even got in on the fun, (he has a fever, headache, sore throat, cough, etc)  He missed school yesterday, but I can only keep him down so long!!  He kept begging to go to school and Jake was mad he couldn't stay home,

My baby is growing up!

I have mixed feelings about my baby growing up.  Life seems to get a lot easier when you have a baby old enough to sit  back and watch what is going on around him.  He loves watching the boys and you can tell he wants to get up and play. He is starting to sleep through the night, at least a couple nights a week.  But once in a while I get sad when I think about that tiny, cuddly, newborn stage.

Cael is berry, berry happy when he has a berry!

Cael has always loved berries.  We found this out when he was about six  months old.  We took him huckleberry picking with one day.  We stuck him in a stroller and after about 30 minutes he got a bit fussy.  We asked Connor to go give him some berries.  He kept eating and eating and any time his tray was berry free he would start to cry.   Needless to say Cael loves berries and he'll eat a gallon of them if you let him.  The other day I bought some strawberries and he pulled this huge strawberry out and as you can see by his face he was a bit excited by the size of this berry!  It seriously was the size of a small apple!  He always keeps his eyes open for "big hungry bears".

The Camo Cast

Ok, ok, ok, I have both grandma's breathing down my neck to post pictures of Jake's real cast.  Someone told him they had camouflage casting material, I was so relieved that they did or his little heart would have been broken!  He thinks it is great because now playing army he can stick his arm out of a bush to shoot and no one will be able to see it.  He is also excited that it is completely water proof so he can swim with it when we go to Disneyland in 2 weeks!!  He has been praying every night about Disneyland.  He prayed that no one would get sick on the plane and that we would have money to buy something.( I don't know who he knows that has got sick on a plane or why he is worried about money to buy things, you never know what is going on in that little head of his.)

It is broke!

Jake had immediately complained that his arm hurt when he hit the ground.  He never really cried about it.  Once in a while he would say it hurt a little, so we would give him some Tylenol.  It took 5 minutes to get his glove on the night he hurt it, so he could go make one run. ( You know jump back on the horse that bucks you off).  Mark wanted to make sure he wasn't traumatized by the whole experience.  So he made another run that night.  He has complained very little.  So we voted to wait until something pushed us to think it was broken.  (because a 30 foot drop was not enough, ha, ha)  He came home from school yesterday and said he fell once at recess and it hurt real bad.  He has been favoring it a bit and when I had him hold up his arms together, I could definitely tell that it was swollen.  So I called the doctor's office and got him an appointment for this  morning.  Sure enough it was broken, nothing displaced but a pretty good fracture right through the big bone by his wrist.  He kept smiling when I told him it was broken.  With his two front teeth missing it looks like he as been in quite a fight.  He cried only because he did not want to go to school because everyone would stare at him.  What a tough little guy!!!

Jake caught some major air!

Jake was riding up the ski lift with dad.  Connor and mom were two chairs behind.  Mark was looking down a run and felt Jake shift next to him.  He turned to see Jake slipping off the lift.  He tried to grab his coat, but he slipped through his hand.  He couldn't see Jake because he was under his chair, but he heard him hit the groomed trail below.  Connor said mom Jake fell off the lift.  I turned to see Jake lying in a pile.  It didn't take long for him to realize what happened and start screaming.  After yelling, "what the h--- happened" (I have to share this part and I will explain why later),  I asked Jake what hurt and he said his arm, I told him we would be right there and to lay still.  It took us probably 2 or 3 minutes to get off the lift and ski down to him.  He had calmed down and luckily seemed to be fine.  Someone had called for Ski Patrol and they soon arrived with toboggan in tow.  They asked Jake when he had last ate and he told them he had a brownie for breakfast.  They put a sling on his arm and loaded him in the toboggan.  When we got to the bottom I asked him how the ride was, he replied "fun".  They checked him out in the ski patrol lodge and he seemed to be fine.  We decided to watch his wrist and see if it still hurt in a couple of days.  Connor told my dad he was going to write about this in his journal but he couldn't write what his mom had said.  My dad told him just to write dashes after the "h".  Thanks dad.  Jake came home from school today and said he fell on his wrist at lunch and it hurt really bad.  So we will be going to the doctor tomorrow to get an x-ray.

Family ski trip!

Every year my grandma rents a house in Eden, Ut., for the whole family.  It is her Christmas present to everyone.  The weekend is full of fun: eating at Chuck-o-Rama (my kids favorite restaurant), hot tubing with a beautiful view, skiing and night skiing, lots of food, karaoke (Mark's favorite ha, ha).  It is so fun to get out and break up the long winters.
